GNU = GNU is Not UNIX tapi ada juga yg bilang GNU = GNU is Now UNIX emoticon

LINUX = LINus UniX

KDE = K Desktop Environment ( katanya sih K itu Kool dari kata Cool yang berarti keren emoticon )

GNOME = GNU Network Object Model Environment

XFce = sebelumnya : XForms Common Environment, sekarang : Cholesterol Free Desktop Environment

XPde = XP desktop Environment, Linux graphical desktop environment yang dibuat mirip tampilan Windows XP

EDE = Equinox Desktop Environment

WINE = Wine Is Not Emulator <=> WINdows Emulator, hayo pilih yang mana emoticon

GIMP = GNU Image Manipulation Program

YAST = Yet Another Setup Tool

BASH = Born Again SHell 

TUX = Torvalds UniX ( read A Complete History of TUX )

XMMS = X MultiMedia System, X11 MultiMedia System or XWindow MultiMedia System

BitchX = ini bukan pelacur X ya tapi program chatting IRC via console emoticon

AbiWord = free word processing diambil dari bahasa Spanyol "Abierto" yang berarti Open / terbuka

Gaim =  What does "Gaim" stand for?

For freedom! No, seriously, it doesn’t stand for anything. It’s our name and we’re sticking to it. The two acceptable forms of capitalization are "Gaim" and "gaim" (and not "GAIM").

wah ternyata gak ada kepanjangannya, tapi kalo menurut g sih Gaim tu GNU Amazing Instant Messenger soale emang bener" ajaib  emoticon

Kopete =  yang ini juga gak ada kepanjangannya, asal kata dari bahasa Chili : Copete yg merupakan nama sejenis minuman beralkohol, karena dibuat untuk diiintegrasikan dengan KDEjadinya Kopete emoticon

YAHOO = Yet Another Hierarchically Officious Oracle. ternyata ada kepanjangannya ya kirain bhs inggris dari yihaa atau yuhuu emoticon

Google = dari kata googol yaitu angka 1 (satu) yang diikuti oleh seratus angka 0 (nol) alias 10 pangkat 100

Microsoft = Microcomputer Software

  1. Bash is a Unix command shell written for the GNU project. Its name is an acronym for Bourne-again shell —a pun (Bourne again / born again) on the Bourne shell (sh), which was an early, important Unix shell. The Bourne shell was the shell distributed with Version 7 Unix, circa 1978. The original Bourne shell was written by Stephen Bourne, then a researcher at Bell Labs.
